All concerts are free, handicapped accessible and open to the public. Please join us at one or several.  Some of the music will be the same at all, but different selections will be added at each.
The elementary school students will perform before the band at Linwood Holton Elementary School, and the choirs and soloists will also perform at Tabernacle Baptist Church.

September 11, 2011
On the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on our country, this concert is a memorial for those lost souls, gone from this life, but who are forever treasured in our memories… and a tribute to the many who assisted in the rescue, of which many lost their lives, too.  The Richmond Concert Band will present musical selections in remembrance of those who died and in recognition of the sacrifices made by those who stepped up to help.  Also, being partly a celebration of us all being Americans, the band will also perform music that highlights all that is good with our country.

The concert begins at 2:30pm at the Heritage Amphitheater in Pocahontas State Park in Chesterfield County.  There is bench seating for 350, so you may consider bringing a lawn chair or blanket (it may also be softer!) to take a seat on the gentle, grassy slope by the amphitheater.  The slopes allow room for seating for nearly 4000.  The concert, as are all the Richmond Concert Band’s performances, is free.  But the park does require a $5 per car parking fee.  At this time, veterans are exempt from this fee.  Bring your family, including a veteran, along with a picnic basket and help us remember and memorialize both out lost and our heroes.

Do you have an old band instrument in a closet or under the bed?

The Richmond Concert Band is collecting old instruments for young hands in the Richmond City Public Schools. Each year we collect unused instruments and they are repaired and loaned to young aspiring musicians for the school year. To donate (we pick up
and it is a charitable donation on your taxes!) call 804-737-3767. We also accept monetary donations for supplies like reeds & mouthpieces at PO Box 268, Richmond, VA 23218-0268.   The Band’s annual Old Instruments for Young Hands concert will be held Sunday, August 21 at 6 pm at Linwood Holton Elementary School, 1600 West Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA. Children of all ages are most welcome to enjoy a fun, free program featuring different instruments and ensembles from the band. You may also bring donations to support the Old Instruments for Young Hands program to the concert.
